The Rotary Foundation Future Vision pilot
Qualification
T he goal of the Future Vision pilot is to test the Future Vision Plan’s streamlined grant-making model and increase Rotarian participation in the grant-making process. Districts in the Future Vision pilot will have a direct role in managing Rotary Foundation grant funds. Find out what districts were selected for the pilot (PDF).
To prepare for this increased responsibility and help districts effectively administer grant funds, each district will participate in a qualification process before it receives Rotary Foundation District Grants and Global Grants. As detailed below, the qualification process includes attending training, providing basic information to the Foundation, and agreeing to begin a series of legal, financial, and stewardship requirements to ensure proper oversight of Foundation funds.
The qualification process is a vital component of the new grant model. It requires minimal information sent to the Foundation so all that Rotary districts can get qualified before the pilot phase starts.
To achieve qualified status, each pilot district must complete the following steps:
1. The 2010-11 district governor and district Rotary Foundation Committee (DRFC) chair for the pilot must attend the Future Vision Pilot Training in San Diego, California, USA.
2. The 2009-10 and 2010-11 district governors and the 2010-11 DRFC chair must complete the following steps through Member Access:
- Submit payee information for a district bank account established solely for managing Rotary Foundation grant funds.
- Indicate whether the district will implement a district Rotary Foundation audit committee or an independent financial assessment and provide basic information about their selection.
- Read and agree to the qualification memorandum of understanding (MOU). The MOU is an agreement between the district and the Foundation explaining that the district will undertake measures to ensure proper implementation of grant activities and proper management of Foundation grant funds. By authorizing this document, the district agrees that it will comply with all of the conditions and requirements.
- Authorize the district’s qualification information and agree to abide by all stated terms.
Once a district becomes qualified, the district Rotary Foundation grants subcommittee is responsible for managing the qualification of Rotary clubs in the district.
To maintain qualification, districts must adhere to all relevant Rotary Foundation policies and implement the MOU.
