Dear Dadson Jon Nwakalo I bring you warm greetings from your friends in Singapore! You can make your dream a reality when Rotary Clubs all over the world positively support and pass the Enactment at the 2010 Council on Legislation for the continued existence of Rotary E-Clubs. :-) As you may be aware, all existing Rotary E-Clubs are "prototype" approved under the Pilot Project. As such, no new Rotary E-Club shall be created until 2010 COL. It is our hope that there will be a greater community of Rotary E-Clubs worldwide -- presently, there are only 14 of us. We look forward to meet you on cyberspace. Kindly go to www.rotaryeclub3310.org for more interaction! Regards B S Chew, Charter President, Rotary E-Club of 3310

I am very much interested in eclubs. We want to start the first eclub in Africa in Nigeria under District 9140. A lot of Nigerian Rotarians especially ones in District 9140 including Past District Governors and Presidents are very much interested. So what are the rules for forming a Rotary eclub? By the way I am a charter president and a past president and have the interest of Rotary all over but I travel a lot and a lot of us out here are interested in meeting electronically. I like the Singapore rotaryeclub3310 and would like to borrow a leaf from them. But what are the rules. By the way Our curent District Governor has given a node to it but what are the rules can someone help? Dadson Jon Nwakalo Rotary club of Maryland District 9140 Nigeria.

Dear Rotarian Hughes, The Website for the Rotary E-Club of London Centenary is being updated, with the list of current officers now up to date. And yes, most of our members are not from the UK. That is how our club was setup and approved by District 1130 (London, UK). Unlike a club who does have face-to-face meetings once a month, and then use the Internet the rest of the month, The ReCLC is purely Internet based. We are truly an international Rotary eClub, as are most of the other Rotary eClubs. (Because of the way the Pilot Projects were started, there has been a lot of confusion, I realize). On occasion, UK members might get together for fellowship, especially when a club member visits the UK. Three of us attended the LA Convention. Many clubs had no members in attendance. Though I live near Chicago, as club president, I will be attending the District 1130 Conference in October. Of note, we have added 6 new members since July 1, 2008: 1 each from Madagascar, UK, Germany and the USA, and 2 from Denmark. As for you idea of dual memberships, I don't think that is anything RI has so far considered. Are you looking at a Rotary eClub as something less then a regular Brick & Mortar (B & M)? We sure don't think of ourselves in the manner, and do not want to be. Could you imagine having to abide by the attendance rules for both clubs? No, not workable. There is no current proposal to allow dual memberships. By the way, I am an ordinary member of a Rotary Club, The Rotary E-Club of London Centenary. My Rotary membership status is exactly the same as yours. Visit: www.eRotaryLondon.org The future of Rotary eClubs will be an agenda item at the 2010 COL. Proposals approved by their clubs and disticts have been sent to RI, as requried in the RI rules. RI has acknowledged those submissions.

I have been following the idea of eclubs and especially the club in London but surely the main criteria of an eclub is membership via the internet and electronic communication so I was amazed when I visited the club website to find it hopelessly out of date and most of the members are not from the UK. Perhaps the better idea would be for existing Rotarians to join an Eclub as well as their own club thereby maintaining contact with the community and a club. Perhaps therefore the Rotary rules should be relaxed to accomodate those wishing the remain as ordinary members of their club AND join an eclub for the convenience of attendance. Just thoughts on a way forward.

not a comment but a desire for some information on E Clubs, particulary in relation to membership, a member of our club no longer lives close by to us and also a considearble distance from any other club so he has been E Clubing, my query is is he still a member of his original club and therefore pays dues etc via his original club or is he now a member of a particular E Club and therefore pays his dues via this club?

I would like to answer to what was written by , Rtn Pradeep Aggarwal . The fact that we are an Eclub is not to be seen as less than a classic clubs. Yes we are meeting once a month at our own club level ( in Singapore ) but every week we are having also an active meeting or meetings with other clubs (can be either classic club or e club). For my case it can be a meeting in Singapore for this week and the next day can be a meeting with another club(s) in USA where I am visiting USA at least at twice a month . And after that I can be any where like my other work place in Timor Island ( www.roslinorphanage.org) where a local Rotary Club is also existing. Even so , I can still have my 24 hours forum meeting with my own club while I am away. Project wise an Eclub is not restricted to a certain project as we are also working together with other clubs as well. Currently our RC Eclub3310 of Singapore is working together with another Rotary Club Suntec City ( a classic club) for a work which involving some 1000( one thousand) youth and regular Matching Grant projects as well. If you have any project(s) that is suitable for us to work together please let us know . Who knows that we can work together with your club or may be we can connect you to another Eclub in the world. Our work place is Global and our connectivity is 24 hours a day. At the moment I am in New York and I have been following to what the club is doing and communicating with my club members as if I am in town. Please visit our web www.rotaryeclub3310.org. Dear Rtn Pardeep Allow me to address your question, "What community projects can be undertaken by e-Clubs?" I would like to say, "Plenty -- as much as your imagination allows you to." Check our website, www.rotaryeclub3310.org, and you can have some ideas of the range of projects we have undertaken over the last 5 years since our Charter. If you need to explore further, please write to me. I am the Charter President of Rotary E-Club of 3310 and is a Past President of a traditional Club, Rotary Club of Bukit Timah. Fyi, all three Clubs under our stable have won the RI Presidential Citation 2007-2008 Awards -- Rotary E-Club of 3310, Rotaract E-Club of District 3310 and Interact Club of ITE College East! As you can see, we are not limited by the fact that we are a Rotary E-Club... but we are excited and we "explore the possibilities" by being different from the rest in our District 3310!!!

Rotary E-Clubs are impressive! Chris Joscelyne of Rotary E-Club One surveyed the 12 active Rotary E-Clubs as to their successes as of the end of 2007. Most Clubs had only been in existence for a few years. The results showed 281 members from 25 countries. 145 of these were previous Rotarians! Many would have been lost to Rotary without the existence of E-Clubs! 113 are PHF's, 33 are multiple PHF's, and 13 are Benefactors. E-Club Rotarians have donated over $128000 US to the Foundation -- and done over 54000 hours of service projects! The average number of make-ups by Rotarians visiting Rotary E-club websites is 11,222! -- Richard Wingate (COL Liaison For Rotary E-Club of Southeast USA & Caribbean) We cover Zones 33 and 34.
