 Project Enhancement Process

At its April 2012 meeting, The Rotary Foundation Trustees approved a one-year pilot of the project enhancement process (PEP), which began on 1 July 2012. Through this process, the Foundation is working with the Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (WASRAG) to offer resources and consulting services on major water and sanitation projects in the following districts: 2430, 3140, 3360, 3810, 4250, 4651, 4915, 9200, and 9600. These services and resources include:

  • Technical guides on water and sanitation project activities and technologies
  • Assistance in setting up in-district teams to focus on water and sanitation efforts
  • Foundation funding to help project sponsors conduct needs assessments and create project plans for global grant requests of US$100,000 or more

These optional services will enable grant sponsors to tap into the technical expertise of their fellow Rotarians who are professionals in the field.

Water resources available to all Rotarians

WASRAG has developed technical guides that provide information on the most commonly used and effective water and sanitation projects. These guides include checklists that walk Rotarians through project planning and implementation and can serve as a point of reference for all Rotarians, not just those in PEP pilot districts. Project Planning and Performance Evaluation (PPP) Teams

Rotarians in one of the nine PEP pilot districts planning global grant water projects with a total financing of over US$200,000 have the option to request a Project Planning and Performance Evaluation (PPP) Team to help them design their project. The project’s host sponsor should complete and submit a PPP Request Form.

In addition, WASRAG has developed a questionnaire that it is using to identify individuals who are skilled in the water and sanitation area of focus and want to participate in a PPP Team to assist with project planning. Interested individuals can complete an online questionnaire.
